For many of us, cars are an essential part of our lives. With more car brands and innovative models available on the market than ever before, it is equally an exciting time to be a car enthusiast as well as someone on the look-out for a new car.
Here at Click4reg, we were interested to explore the cars that have proven most popular in 2019. We pulled search engine data from reputable analytics tool SEMrush to discover how often consumers in five different countries (United Kingdom, United States, Italy, Germany and France) search online for more than 40 recognisable car brands each month.
Mercedes is seemingly the most popular car in UK – with an astonishing 368,000 Google searches per month.

Audi and BMW already showcase some of the best-selling cars in UK. But they also have the accolade of being the next two most popular car makes when illustrating the number of people searching for specific car models. Each brand generates 301,000 online queries every month – the equivalent of 825 searches per day.
Vauxhall has the prestige of being the most searched British vehicle brand – accumulating a monthly search volume of 246,000.

Elon Musk’s Tesla is the most ‘Googled’ car brand by Americans – with a monumental 2,240,000 searches per month and the Model 3 seems to be the most popular car in US, accumulating 673,000 searches a month.

Japanese giant Toyota is the next most popular car make when it comes to searches – with the brand generating 1,830,000 online queries every month – the equivalent of 5,014 searches per day.
One of America’s most historic and iconic automakers Ford garners a monthly search volume of 1,220,000.

Volkswagen is the most popular car in Italy – with 368,000 Google searches per month.
Subsequently, German giants’ Mercedes and Audi are the next most popular car makes for search volume popularity – 301,000 online queries every month – the equivalent of 825 searches per day.
Ferrari alongside Fiat have the prestige of being the most Googled Italian vehicle brands – with each automaker accumulating a monthly search volume of 246,000 (comparable to 674 searches each day).
Results for other Italian car manufacturers include: Alfa Romeo (165,000), Lamborghini (135,000) and Maserati (90,500).
Mercedes is the most ‘Googled’ car brand by Germans – with an astounding 673,000 Google searches per month.
Thereafter, Audi and BMW are then some of the next most popular cars in Germany – with each brand generating 550,000 online queries every month – the equivalent of 1,507 searches per day.
Fascinatingly, when it comes to much desired and discussed luxury sports cars, Porsche has the honour of being the most searched brand under that category, with monthly Google searches totalling to 301,000 (the equivalent to 825 searches each day).
Peugeot is the most popular car in France – with 550,000 Google searches per month.
Thereafter, Volkswagen and Renault are the next most popular cars in France makes when it comes to searches – with each brand generating 450,000 online queries every month – the equivalent of 1,233 searches per day.
This how other French automobile manufacturers fair when it comes to monthly Google volumes: Citroen (246,000) and Bugatti (60,500).
